Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Standout subscription and the free career tools (CV Writer, LinkedIn Makeover, Cover Letter) made available at joinstandout.com (the "Service"). The Service is provided by Impact Change Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales, trading as Standout ("we", "us", "our").

By using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract to use the Service.

The Service has two parts:

• Free career tools. CV Writer, Cover Letter, and LinkedIn Makeover are free to use, subject to reasonable fair-use limits per email address. You can request up to five free revisions per generated document. An active Standout subscription removes the free-tier limits.
• Standout (paid subscription). Two ready-to-post LinkedIn options emailed to you on weekday mornings, written from your profile information. You choose which to post.

Both parts use AI (Anthropic Claude) under our editorial guidelines to produce the output. We do not guarantee any specific career outcome from using the Service. AI-generated output can contain mistakes or inaccuracies, so you are responsible for reviewing and verifying every output before you publish or send it.

Standout is $19.99 per month, billed monthly via Stripe. New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial; you will not be charged during the trial and can cancel at any time during it without paying.

Stripe displays your local currency at checkout. We may run promotional pricing or coupon codes from time to time; the price you see at checkout is the price you will be charged.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Stripe customer portal (link in every delivery email) or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, after which you will not be charged again. You retain access to the daily posts until that period ends.

Standout includes a 7-day free trial so you can evaluate it before any payment. You can cancel at any time during the trial and pay nothing. By using the daily posts during your trial, you agree the service begins straight away.

Once a monthly payment has been taken, we do not refund part-used months; cancelling stops all future charges from the end of the current period. None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

You retain ownership of the information you submit (your CV, LinkedIn details, achievements, etc.) and of the documents and copy generated for you. You are free to use, edit, publish, and distribute the output as your own.

We retain the right to use anonymised, aggregated patterns from generations to improve the Service (e.g. spotting that a particular system prompt is producing weak output). We will not publish or share your specific content.

You agree not to:

• Submit information that is unlawful, misleading, or that you do not have the right to submit.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service.
• Use the Service to generate content that defames any individual or organisation.
• Resell the Service or pass off its output as the work of a different commercial provider.

We reserve the right to suspend or close any account that materially breaches these rules. Where we do, we will refund any unused portion of a paid period.

We aim to keep the Service available continuously, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Underlying providers (Anthropic, Stripe, Supabase, Cloudflare) may experience downtime that affects us. We will not be liable for outages outside our reasonable control.

The Service is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost opportunities, or damage to professional reputation arising from publication of generated output.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £50.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. For active subscribers, material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
