Standout and the free career tools (CV Writer, LinkedIn Makeover, Cover Letter) are operated by Impact Change Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales, trading as Standout.

We are the data controller for personal information you submit through this site. Contact us at standout@joinstandout.com.

We collect the data you provide directly when you use the tools:

• Your name and email address (required to deliver the document we generate).
• Career and professional details you enter into the tool forms (e.g. CV text, LinkedIn URL, role goals, achievements, company you are applying to).
• Account information once you sign in: your email, an authenticated session token, and a list of documents you have generated.
• For Standout subscribers: payment information processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

We also collect basic technical data automatically: IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is used for security and to understand site performance.

• To generate and deliver the document or LinkedIn copy you requested.
• To save your generations so you can view, download, and revise them from your account.
• To send transactional emails (delivery, revision confirmations, subscription receipts).
• For Standout: to generate your daily LinkedIn posts, drawn from your profile information and current industry signals.
• To improve the service. We may review anonymised, aggregated data on tool usage to understand what works.
• To send you occasional emails about our other free tools and tips relevant to what you used. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your CV, LinkedIn details, or career history with third parties for marketing.

Under UK and EU data protection law we rely on the following bases:

• Providing the service you asked for (generating and delivering your document, copy, or daily posts, and saving them to your account): performance of our agreement with you, or steps taken at your request.
• Subscription and payment (Standout): performance of our contract with you.
• Security, fraud prevention, and improving the service: our legitimate interests in running a safe, reliable product.
• Marketing emails about our other tools or relevant tips: your consent or a soft opt-in, with an easy unsubscribe in every email.

We use a small set of trusted infrastructure providers to run the service:

• Anthropic. Claude generates the CV, cover letter, and LinkedIn copy from your inputs. Inputs are sent over the API and are not used to train their models.
• Supabase. Stores your account, generations, and documents.
• Make.com. Orchestrates the pipeline that delivers your document.
• Google Workspace. Sends transactional emails from standout@joinstandout.com.
• Stripe. Processes Standout subscriptions. Stripe is the data controller for your payment data.
• Cloudflare. Hosts and serves the website.

All of these are contractually obliged to process your data only on our instructions.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK and the European Economic Area (for example in the United States). Where your data is transferred internationally, it is protected by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

Generated documents and account data are retained for as long as you have an active account, plus a reasonable buffer (usually 12 months) in case you return. You can request deletion at any time and we will remove your account and associated documents within 30 days.

Under UK GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten").
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Object to processing in specific circumstances.
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

To exercise any of these, email standout@joinstandout.com with the subject line "Data request". We aim to respond within 14 days.

We use only essential browser storage to run the site: a session token to keep you signed in, and local storage that saves your progress while you fill in a tool form. These are necessary for the service to work, so they do not require a consent banner.

We do not use advertising, third-party, or tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and show a consent banner that lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies before any are set.

Standout is intended for working professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top and, for active subscribers, send a notice by email. Continuing to use the service after a change indicates acceptance.
